There are two parts I like… Finding out new stuff through my research… and training both my own research students and research assistants; and undergraduate students taking chemistry at University.

I really enjoy teaching students new things about chemistry, especially the moment when they finally understand something difficult. I also really enjoy my own research, especially when I make a new chemical and find that it glows a pretty colour 🙂

I enjoy teaching and I love being involved in public engagement events. I also like the resercah part of my job, finding new molecules!

Learning something new is the favourite part of my job. If I can help someone solving their problem through my knowledge and expertise that makes me feel very happy. Few years ago I got a X-ray pattern from Sheffield University and I solved the pattern and that made my collaborators very happy and now the molecule Tin azide (SnN6) is known to the world. I also love to teach chemistry; teaching younger kids is always challenging; and when I see them excited about science that gives me immense joy and satisfaction.

Making new molecules that kill parasites! It’s also so satisfying if the molecule looks really pretty…a lot are just white powders. But sometimes they are beautiful crystals, like the ones in the image on my profile.
