That’s a really great question! I’ve made lots of pretty coloured chemicals in my time as a scientist. One of my favourites was a really cool chemical that made crystals. The crystals were dark green, but if you held them up to the light from the window, they looked red instead of green! I also once made a molecule that was the same colour pink as this question box.
Bryony already mentioned about her colourful crystals. I also share my experience here. I made lots of interesting colours by inserting lithium atoms between graphite layers.. they are called Li-intercalated graphite. They are formed in Li-ion battery. Depending on how much Li gets in, you get different colours; more Lithium = golden yellow, then red, blue etc.
