Is the study of natural product molecules isolated from plants, marine organisms (sponges, algae, corals) and (marine) microorganisms for therapeutic uses. The are many examples of medicines that have derived from molecules isolated from natural sources and are curerrently in the market as anticancer and antiviral drugs

Thruth is that the term “pharamcognosy” is not very popular anymore and people in the field tend to use the term “natural product chemistry”
