• Question: do you have to try and create new ones when you can try and develop on the ones that have been found oxadiazole molecules like furoxan which kills the parosites Necator americanus

      Hey, this is such a great question. I don’t know much about Furoxan, but I looked up it’s structure – it’s a very small super active molecule, I suspect it has the ability to kill a lot of different parasites as it works by releasing nitric oxide and this can cause a lot of problems for survival. Taking known molecules and developing them is a definite strategy in drug discovery – I can see online that people are building furoxan containing molecules to treat Tuberculosis (TB)! However, we like to look for new molecules too.
