Chemistry is difficult to understand as it is a very broad subject. It stretches from physics at one side (with lots of maths added in) to biology on the other. Each area of chemistry often demands different skills and mental approaches. Some people will think like physicists and mathematicians others like biologists. However, at least we are allow to specialise as we get deeper into the subject.
agree with Martin, and would like to add few things.
1. Chemistry seems to be difficult when we study in school, as we have to learn element names, valencies, formula, chemical reactions, balancing chemical reactions etc. It is just like visiting to a new country where the language is different. With practice when you learn the language of chemistry it will be very simple; you do not have to memorise anything. Trust me.
2. Chemistry is mostly happening in atomic level; all properties such as metallic property, acid-base property, hard-soft nature, oxidising ability etc. Therefore we cannot co-relate easily. Whereas, we understand light, sound, speed, gravitation much better.
