I suspect it was early on… probably around 6 to 8 years old.

When I was first introduced to chemistry, I suppose I must have been around 9(?)

I always loved science; but i would not say science was my passion. I realised chemistry has many job opportunities, and chemistry is fun; so I decided to take chemistry as my career when I was 16. It was still not my passion. When I started my PhD, then only chemistry became my true passion. Now I cannot think of anything else to do other than research/teaching in chemistry.

I think I became interested in science at high school because of my super enthusiastic chemistry teacher – but, even when I went to study chemistry at Uni I wasn’t entirely sure what kind of job it would lead me into. Once I learned that chemistry could take me into drug discovery and making new medicines – I’d say that’s what made me feel passionate about it!
