I’m quite proud of the two machines I designed to do our experiments… have a look here http://www.astrochemistry.hw.ac.uk!

I made a new form of one anti-cancer drug Galunisertib between two diamonds. I squeezed one form of the drug and then melt my drug; upon cooling a new form was born under pressure. I can recover this crystal when I release the pressure. This is a very exciting result for pharmaceutical research.

I don’t think I’ve really been responsible for the full design of an experiment. Making tweaks to get reactions to work but, yeah, no design from scratch. A lot of chemistry is like following a recipe!

I don’t really design the experiments I’m carrying out but I do optimise the methodology involved
