Any experiment that I’ve been involved with that works and tells me something new and interesting is going to be my current favourite…

I’ve seen this one done live! Chemical reaction gone mad – fun! It’s the catalysed decomposition of hydrogen peroxide by yeast that generates oxygen and hence all the bubbles!

generally it can take few hours, days, weeks to grow one nice crystal. I saw one of my crystal’s growth in less than a minute. i put one anti-cancer drug between two diamonds; pressurised and then heated to melt; the crystal grew from melt. it was so cool watching the growth of the crystal that can be a potential anti-cancer drug.

When I started university, we had one of our induction days where the professors were introducing their resesearchs. One of them was into public engagement activities and he showed us some of the experiments he uses for the events. He took a banana, froze it using liquid nitrogen and then used it as a hammer and put a nail through a thick piece of wood! It was my fisrt time seeing soemthing like that and I was amazed!
