• Question: Do you think that there will be a cure for every cancer out there, if so, would it be a drug/treatment?

I would hope so but the problem might be whether or not we can afford it!

Maybe in many many years from now we will be able to cure every type of cancer. I personally believe that it might be more of targeted microsurgery in combination with drug treatments

Hey Anastasia, this is a great question and one I ask myself all the time! I really hope so! People use cancer as an umbrella term but, there are SO many different types of cancer. The ones that are currently at the forefront of research are probably the ones that affect most people, which makes sense as finding a treatment for these will benefit a bigger group. But, there are so many rarer cancers, that don’t affect as many people and these are probably not being researched enough. Hopefully after the common ones are sorted out, people can focus on the rarer ones and there will be treatments for all!

I hope so; as there has been so many scientists working on cancer research projects across the world. Their hard works should be paid off.

I think that’s a really interesting question Anastasia! Cancer is of course not just one illness, there are lots of different types. Because each one is so different, finding a cure for them all is quite difficult. Lots of scientists work in cancer research in many different areas, so that the most common and serious types of cancer can be cured or treated better. Most cancer research is about looking for treatments instead of cures, or looking at ways to prevent cancer, or predict if someone is more at risk of a particular kind of cancer. We are getting much, much better at treating cancer these days so that now, common cancers are actually much easier to get rid of than even 10 or 20 years ago. So perhaps in future, even more types of cancer will be treatable with new drugs or treatments.
